A connecting device in power systems for waterproof joints

Time:2025-11-07 13:16:31

Waterproof joints are commonly used connecting devices in power systems. They are mainly applied in industrial scenarios such as chemical plants, power plants, power supply bureaus, telecommunications base stations and automated factories, ensuring the safe cable connection between outdoor equipment and control systems. The joint consists of a metal shell, sealing components and other parts, and its specific structure can be understood through diagrams such as the "Cross-Sectional View of Cable Waterproof Joint Structure". During production, it is first wrapped with yellow silk tape, then with J-20 self-adhesive tape on the outer layer, and finally with plastic wear-resistant tape. The number of wrapping layers is divided into 6 layers (insulation layer) and 3 layers (protective layer) according to different voltage levels. For low-voltage environments, a combined scheme of waterproof filling tape and protective sleeve is adopted, while for harsher environments, additional layers of self-adhesive waterproof tape need to be added. Installation should avoid operation on rainy days; after crimping the copper tube, burrs must be filed smooth, and uniform heating is required for heat shrinkage treatment. The size of cold-shrink cable joints must be strictly implemented in accordance with the drawings, and cautious operation should be exercised when involving the process of removing supports.
