Currently, the main evaluation standard for the waterproof performance of waterproof connectors is based on the IP rating system. To determine the waterproof performance of a waterproof joint, the key lies in the two digits "XX" in IPXX: the first X ranges from 0 to 6, with the highest level being 6; the second X ranges from 0 to 8, with the highest level being 8. Therefore, the waterproof rating of the waterproof joint is IP68.
Molded cable accessories are mainly used for straight-through waterproof joints of cross-linked cables of 35kV and above. They are manufactured by wrapping irradiated cross-linked or chemically cross-linked polyethylene film tapes around the treated cable joint, compressing it with a special mold (aluminum mold or heat-resistant tension tape), and then heating it to form the joint. During production, the irradiated cross-linked polyethylene tape undergoes pre-stretching treatment (stretched by 30% at 100°C, then cooled and rolled). After being wrapped into a joint, it shrinks when heated, compressing the air gaps between the wrapped tape layers, thereby increasing the gap discharge voltage. This type of joint has a high partial discharge level and is suitable for manufacturing cable joints with higher voltage ratings.
